I did the big chop!!!

After 8 months of transitioning I got tired of the stringy damaged relaxed ends and I cut it all off! I will be selling somethings and updating you on so much stuff! I am also gathering cool products for my 2 year blogiversary in February!!!

My computer is crazy so I am looking for a new one now and once I get that in order I will have everything I have been promising up!

What I'm Reading Now...

Since I got the awesome Kindle Fire for Christmas I am on it nonstop. It is an e-reader and tablet in one for those who are not familiar with it and it is by Amazon. I have downloaded a few apps and by far my favorite is Stupid Zombies, which is kind of like angry birds, but you are shooting zombies. Very fun...very addictive. I have also picked up a couple books. One book I recently picked up before I got the Kindle is The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene.

I have a discussion started on The Mogul Minded Beauty on this book for those of you who have read it or are interested in it. This book has mixed reviews mostly because people see this book as a means of deception and manipulation in an effort to gain power. However, I am a very open person when it comes to the type of stuff that I read up on and one thing is for sure everyone has his or her own take away on different things. Every individual has his or her own perception when it comes to experiences, so what one person may get out of this book, the next person may not. I, however, find this book very interesting and plan on using the information on becoming more of an aware and sharper individual, especially in terms of becoming a business woman. Some laws include...in which I have read up to Law 6 so far, because I've brought other books that I am dabbling in (I will get to those in a second):

Law 1: Never outshine the master.

Law 2: Never put too much trust in friends, learn how to use enemies.

Law 3: Conceal your intentions.

Law 4: Always say less than necessary.

Law 5: So much depends on reputation --guard it with your life.

Law 6: Court attention at all cost.

Some of these laws I have employed in my own life. Some are not applicable to me at the moment or at all, but this is a fascinating read. Robert Greene includes plenty of examples of how the law applies in life with stories and anecdotes which makes it easier for the reader to understand how the law could be applicable to you. Will keep you updated on this read.

Happy New Year Glamourlicious ladies! Thank you for still sticking with me on my hiatus! I have been absent for the past couple months, but still checking in and seeing your comments and responding. I appreicate your comments no matter how small or old the post is. I do want to also thank any new followers that have hopped aboard the Glamourlicious ride! I totally appreciate it! I am still working on my bachelors degree and finishing up the last psychology class in my program, and I have a few more electives to go to round out this journey, so I will be complete around August or Septemberish and I am electing to graduate next winter when I am completely done! I have been so busy with looking for new place to move, school, work, developing my business, and just family craziness. I have not forgotten about my beloved Glamourlicious!

My two year blogiversary is coming up in February and I want to celebrate it! So I will be looking for an awesome giveaway prize until then. I had a wonderful Christmas and I got everything I asked for and I feel so grateful and blessed to. My beau got me a Kindle Fire, Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb perfume, and a Michael Kors watch. My camera is out of commission. That would also account for the lack of posts lately cuz I need a better camera. I rang in the New Years at home with family and snuggled up watching some tivo'd basketball games....perfect.

Review: Black Radiance Foundation

On the hunt for a foundation, I happen to take a stroll over the Black Radiance section. I naturally do not stick to one thing when it comes to beauty products. Yes, I ahve my staples, but even with the staples I like to try out other brands. I am an equal opportunity tryer ;) So I decided to pick up a foundation by Black Radiance called Color Perfect Oil Free Liquid Makeup.

I like this foundation. This line is for women of color in particular and offers a decent range of color...decent...not much, yet I was surprised that I could find myself a match because they had some with red undertones and others that were too dark for my complexion. The color I picked up was Butter Scotch.

The Pros...

Non-Greasy

No melting while in the heat

The stick allows you to get desired amount of product out jar...may be a con for some

Great coverage

Great price $5.99

The Cons...

No pump

Not too many shades to choose from

All in all, I would purchase again. My next foundation try will be L'Oreal's whipped foundation...not sure of the name but will have a review in the next few weeks for it while I give it a try. I will keep my Black Radiance as a sure backup.

Dexter Season 6: Episode 1/2/3 Recap

I don't know if you know, but I am the biggest Dexter fan ever! I love Michael C. Hall like a fat kid loves twinkies! Oh my gosh! I totally wish I could date him. Now....I am reeling myself back to reality. Anywho, we are now on season six, Dexter has dealt with the death of Rita, his wife and the absence of Lumen. I hate that he is alone now, but he is surely finding ways to keep himself busy. This season has a dark, ominous, and religious overtone to it and with every episode it gets pretty interesting and better. The villians in this season are the characters played by Colin Hanks and his professor. I forgot his name, forgive me, but he did play the father in the movie Selena. They are committing crimes based on The Book of Revelations from the bible. They believe the world is coming to an end and now that they have killed three people, that makes them officially serial killers and now on Dexter's radar to catch before Miami PD does. Deb has broken up with Quinn, which I don't really like Quinn. I have a feeling he is going to get killed off, now that they have added a sexy new piece of chocolate detective to the bunch. Deb is now Lieutenant in place of LaGuerta and I actually like the fresh perspective she brings to the job. Batista is just there. Masuka is still funny as hell and Dexter....I could go on about him. I am psyched to see what happens this Sunday!

1. Silk Elements MegaSilk Shampoo & Conditioner

These give slip like its nobody's business and my hair feels moisturized after each use. I have no qualms with any of the Silk Elements line. All of the products I have used in thier line are pretty good. From the heat protector to the poo and condish...these will always be my staples.

2. Neutrogena Wave

I have been looking for a good facial cleaner. I will not cough up the dough for Clarisonic, no no. I may purchase the new facial cleansing system from Sigma for $40.00, until then I adore my little wave. I picked this up to up the ante on my skincare routine. After using it, my skin feels more cleaner than using my hands. I regularly wash my hands with my medicated cleanser and then follow up with the wave and the attached cleansing pad for a deeper clean. This was only $15.00.

3. Black Radiance

I meant to do a review on this, but here goes a quickie! Its been hot this summer, so when I use this I mix a bit of it with my moisturizer to make a tinted moisturizer and set it with my mineralized powder. This foundation doesn't come with a pump but it is equipped with a stick to can scoop it out. Some may like that and some may not, it doesn't bother me. Black Radiance caters to women of color. I was able to find my shade Buterscotch (love that name!) and it was $5.99.

4. Nuxe Hule Prodigieuse Multi Usage Dry Oil

I got this sample size in my July Birchbox, which I love. It repairs, nourishes, and softens and you can use it for just about anything, body, face, hair. I take a few drops and moisturize it on my face on a quick and out the door day of no makeup. It truly keeps my face moisturized and not greasy at all. The full bottle is pretty pricey, but this little bottle has lasted almost a month, yet I do use it sparingly.

5. CoverGirl Queen Collection Lip Perfection Lipstick in Classy Coral

I have been reaching for this month all month. I have been wearing a semi naked eye (only mascara), a bit of blush, bronzer, and a bold lip and this coral is perfection! Swatch below.

6. Revlon SuperLustrous Lipstick in Berry Haute

Gorgeous...gorgeous purple lip. I do the same thing as stated above, but have been going back and forth between the coral and purple lip...Purple is perfection! This line of lipsticks is divine! Swatch below.

I always get excited because every month is Christmas when I recieve that little pink box in my mailbox! I get excited because to this date I have yet to recieve something in my box that I have to scratch my head about. I watch Youtubers to see what they get in thier boxes... some get certain products more geared to either hair, makeup, or skincare. I am always suprised to see what they curate for me in the box, because I love trying out new products. I have yet to be so astounded to buy a full size product, but its not far fetched.

This months box was all about beauty innovations. It is all about the next big product! So in my box I got...

Anastasia Beverly Hills Lash Lifting Mascara (Travel Size) + Line Erasing Serum

Ihave used the mascara which surprisingly lifted my lashes. I really liked it. Anastsia is supposed to be THE eyebrow maven so I would think she would be on point with any of her eye products. The regular mascara is $22...I have paid that much for a mascara before, but for some reason I feel with $22.00 I can get a couple drugstore mascara out of that. The line erasing serum...haven't used yet. I do not have wrinkles, or at least any lines I want to erase...not sure about what to do with it.

Atelier Cologne: Orange Sanguine Cologne Absolue + Postcard

Smells like sweet oranges! It is not overbearing at all. A little travel size vial which is great to keep in my bag for touch ups if needed or if I forget running out the door. The regular size of 30ml is $50.00...not bad and the 200ml is $145.00. Pricey for a fragrance. I got a pretty postcard with it to which I will hold on to for when I travel.

Earthen Instant Peel

I am interested in trying this out. I haven't used it. I have some upcoming events in September (my birthday month!) I wanna be fresh faced for. So when I do try it, I will review it for you. I got two packets for two uses of this sample. This all-natural peel is supposed to whisk away dead skin without the use of harsh chemicals.

I also got an extra which is a twist band hair tie made of soft elastic and supposed to look good on your hand when not worn, as an accessory. I don't know about how cute it looks on my hand...but its an okay hair tie.

My Recent Flea Market Finds + eBay Find!

I love perusing flea markets everywhere! If I find out about a flea market nine times out of ten I am there! I love finding knick-nacks and novelties! I also love the jewelry and the purses, even if they are replicas they are still hot!

My Tory Burch bag is too cute! It also helps that there is a T for Tara on it, lol!

Blingy animal rings! I am on a ring kick now! I just have to go there every week for something new.

And lastly, I have been looking for some riding boots for the longest! I went from shoe store to shoe store to mall to mall...everywhere and could never find this boot! If I did, it was either the wrong size, too expensive, or just plain ugly. I gave up and low and behold when you stop looking for something, thats when it pops up!

I found my boots! Even though its too hot here in Florida to be wearing boots at least I found them brand new, the exact pair I wanted and my size on ebay! Yay!

Hey everyone!

I have been contemplating on doing a 30 day challenge. Possibly one post a day with a picture. Not sure...trying to decide if I want to change the direction of my blog. I like reviewing beauty products and randomness. I am not sure I am going to take some time to think about it. There are so many beauty blogs out there that I feel like I want to branch out and do something different, so I guess in due time we will see where it all goes. If I do the challenge I will start it in a couple days. School is starting up for the kiddies soon and I have to go shopping for uniforms. My daughter is starting kindergarten soon and I am excited! She just had her 5th birthday party last month at Chuck E Cheese. I hate that place, but she had a good time and that is all that mattered. I should have posted some pics....very late on that! Here ya go...

School is coming along okay. I am still pushing through now in Environmental Psychology. I didn't think it would get harder as you go, but I am still holding on. July 2012 will be here before I know it. I will keep going until the end. I am excited for things to come. I have some more posts so look forward to that. Stay Blessed!

Review: ELF Studio Line Buys

I picked up these ELF products awhile ago and I had been meaning to review them for you guys. I am sure many of you have some if not all of these or have tried these. Perusing my local Kmart, which now carries the line, along with Target, these are the ELF goodies I snagged.

       The Complexion Brush is pretty good and the Contouring Eye Brush is great. I
    already have the flat top brush which I, and everyoen else I know, use for foundation. It
      is great for a airbrushed finish, way better than my Elle Bang stippling brush. All of their
    studio line brushes are $3.00. I suggest just picking up all of them or checking out their
          site and getting the whole set in the roller bag thing it comes in. Great brushes...

The ELF Complexion Powder is a setting powder when all is said and done with applying everything to the face. Truth be told, I think it gives my face like a white powdery look when I swipe it on, so I don't really think I love this. It gets an okay from me.

I like this spray. The ELF Makeup Mist and Set Spray goes on after applying everything to set it in. I can't really compare it to the MAC Setting spray everyone and their mother uses, but this one works for me.

In the ELF Tinted Moisturizer I am the color Sand which is what is swatched. I do like that it is light and easy for on the go when I don;t want to do a full face in the mornings. After awhile of having it, the tube gets all messy and after trying to battle with cleaning it, I gave up and threw it away. I would buy again though, but I love my Neutrogena moisturizer....can never stray from it.

I have wanted to get the ELF Candidly Coral Blush for-ever. Why? It is not pigmented. Did not show up in my skin. Threw it out. Not a good purchase.

I absolutely loved this months Birchbox I recieved. For the month of July designer Cynthia Rowley curated the birchbox and included all of her favorites in the box. I enjoyed every sample I got.

This is a very pretty neutral and it was great to try out this brand. It was cute lil bottle.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil...

This oil is interesting because I am used to using essential oils. I keep it on hand or throw it in my bag if I need it. But so far I've only used it once on my ends and a couple times to moisturize my face. It wasn't greasy at all. I would consider uying a bigger bottle, but the price of $44.50 is having think a little hard about that.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Facial Cleanser...

I've used this cleanser before. I like how gentle it is. I use it as a first step to remove my makeup and follow up with my actual facial cleanser. I have no qualms about this.
Redken Shine Flash 02 Spray...

This ia a good spray. I use it after I flat iron my hair to give it lil shine or before I run out

the door in the mornings. The normal price is $17.00.

Kind Almond & Apricot Bar...

I found this bar very tasty. I have to check my local healthfood store for others, but right now I am on a protein bar kick. Other than that....very good.

Review: Alter Ego Garlic Hair Treatment

I have been pining for this conditioner for a very long time. I have heard nothing but good things about Alter go products on YouTube. Youtube is always my source for getting reviews on things before I go out to the store and purchase things. I decided to go to one of my local beauty supply stores because I notice a lot of them are starting to stock up more on dominican products, yet very few carry Alter Ego products. I found this one for $30.00. You can also can get it and other Alter Ego products at Beauty of New York for $29.99.

Product Promises...

This special cream, rich in peptides, vitamins and mineral salts, derivative from wheat and garlic represents an excellent substitute with hair treatment with animal extract. It leaves the hair soft and strong and is ideal to use on treated hair such as bleached, dyed, and permed.

My Take...

I like the creamy consistency of this product. I thought this was going to be the miracle be-all product to whip my hair into shape. I used it couple times and it has helped my hair in this hair journey. I do use this every once in awhile when I need a good treatment for my hair. I now use Nexxus Promend for my daily conditioner which I will do a review for later. This product is pretty good, and I give it **** out of 5 stars.

Scent Love: My Favorite Scents

I have been trying to build up my perfume collection and including the perfumed body oils and body sprays. So far my favorite smell goods always grabs me a compliment and a "Oooo, what are you wearing and you smell good!" I don't know about you, but I feel between having a good hair day and a smell good comment I am left feeling pretty dang nice.

Viktor & Rolf Fragrance Notes: A flowery scent with notes of Tea, Bergamot, Freesia, Jasmine, Rose Orchid. This is my go-to special occassion scent. I try to use it sparingly because its pricey.

Viva La Juicy Fragrance Notes: A flowery scent with notes of Honeysuckle, Gardenia, Jasmine, Praline, Amber, Caramel Vanilla, and Sandalwood. This is one of my everyday scents.

With Love Fragrance Notes: This is an oriental/spicy scent with notes of Milk, Fruit, Mangosteen, Musk, Flower, Exotic Spices, Amber, Cocobolo Wood. I ues this one everday as well. I was never one for celebrity perfumes. Between Hilary's With Love and Jessica Simpson's Fancy, these two ladies have me sold.

Shoe Love: Just Fab Shoe Review

I will always bring you ladies some shoe fabulousness when it comes to my Shoe Love posts! This month my Shoe Fab purchase was a beautiful pair of blush colored peep toes! This is some major shoe love here. I love these bad babies!

Her name is Daphne and she is gorgeous!

She is a whopping 5 inches and has a brown wooden colored heel and a beautiful buckle adornment in the front. She is not to tough to walk in and gives me some extra height! I have noticed whenever I wear high heels it always props up my backside and gives it a nice lil lift. They say walking in heels are a great workout anyways! I wore these lovelies in my casual outfit of the day post here.

What's In My Makeup Bag? March 2011 Edition

I thought I would share with you the new goodies I have in my makeup bag. I used to carry so much stuff because I figured I never knew when I would need certain things and my makeup bag would be so stuffed that I could barely zip it! But now I have changed certain products because as you know our taste for certain products change or certain ones just don't do they job they need to and wee need to replace it, ya know?

1. Rimmel Moisture Max Lipstick in Vintage Pink: I absolutely love this pink! I think
it is THE perfect pink for my complexion. It also feels creamy on the lips. I NEVER leave home without this shade. It is my go-to color.

2. Wet & Wild Lipstick in 905D: This one I tried out on a whim and this color rocks as my 'bold' go-to shade. Anytime I am rushing and have a bit of a plain face, I dab this color on and stain my lips to stand out a bit.

3. Maybelline 'The Falsies' Mascara: Maybelline has some pretty good mascaras. I would say this line and L'Oreal are pretty much tied with some great mascaras. this one does enhance your lashes and give them more an extended length.

4. Revlon Color Burst Lip Gloss in Papaya: Great spring and summer shade. Gives my skintone a glow whenever I wear it! But I love to wear any color any season ;)

5. Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara: I pair this mascara with my Maybelline Falsies mascara because it gives it a it of a volume boost. Teddy bear brushes tend to have that effect on the lashes.

6. NYX Concealer in Tan: Love, love, love this concealer. Perfect.

7. ELF Tinted Moisturizer in Almond: This is a great and cheap tinted moisturizer for only $3.00, you can;t go wrong. It is not absolutely moisturizing, is definitely holding me over until i search for a new and better one.

8. ELF Waterproof Felt Tip Liner in Midnight (not pictured): I love this eyeliner. Easy to line your top lid, not necessarily the bottom. Very dark and doesn't smudge!

9. MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in Tan/ Dark: What the heck! This stuff lasts FOREVER! I don't know how long I have had this but it is perfection in a compact. I don't wear foundation so this is a great and light alternative to help set my concealer, moisturizer and to give me a great glow!

10. NYX Blush Mosaic in Love: Perfect blush to give me an outstandingly gorgeous glow.

It's all about the natural glow for me ladies!

Here are a couple of beauty buys I have snagged over the last few weeks. I figured I would wait and review them all at once.

Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara, L'Oreal Carbon Black Felt Tip Eyeliner, NYX Concealer, Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain, NYX Blush Mosaic, Cherry Blossom Lashes

This NYX Blush Mosaic in Love is a rich combination of orange shades when blended together looks so harmonious and beautiful against my skintone. I have been pining for the NYX blush in Cinnamon, but when I couldn't find it at my beauty supply, I saw this one and decided to give it a shot. I have seen so many reviews especially a great one on great blush shades for women of color from one of my favorite YouTube gurus Scandalous Beauty. She talked about NARS Taj Mahal and it looked gorgeous on her! I found a lesser expensive version in NYX anyways and it looks just as great. So my brown sugar beauties I wouldn't sleep on this one!

The next beauty buy I have been wanting to try is Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara. Now the reasons why wanted try this mascara is not for the obvious fact that it is suppose to help your lashes to grow over time with continued use. Nope...I wanted to try it because of the name and the packaging. The most silliest thing, yet one of the biggest reasons a lot of us ladies want to try a lot of the products we do anyways! ;)

I totally adore this brush because it reminds me of the luscious big teddy bear brush from the DiorShow mascara. I liked that mascara, but not the price. I still am going to try the Iconic mascara soon. I use the Grow Luscious mascara to give my lashes some volume and I then pair it with another coat of Maybelline Falsies mascara to give it some extra length. I have not found THE perfect mascara so I am always pairing two mascaras together to get the effect I want. I can't give this mascara a heart because I have used better. The Maybelline Falsies is a pretty good one I have to admit.

Okay...hands down the NYX concealer in Tan is THE best concealer I have ever used. It seems to give me enough coverage for my dark circles! That is all I really use my concealer for anyways besides as extra reinforcement under my eyeshadow base to help keep the eyeshadows from creasing. But I thoroughly enjoy applying this because it truly is awesome!

I have been wanting to try the Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain for awhile. I always see the ad with Jessica Biel in my magazines and I always say that I need to get it! I picked up the red lipstain called Gothic. I love the name! I also got the pink one called Passion. The pink one barely shows up on my lips and isn't a pigmented enough stain color in my opinion...so it stays in the drawer with the rest of my lippies. The red is perfect! I have only had one bad experience with a stain and that was with a Covergirl one and that was a hot mess and I said NEVER again! But I am a fan of this lipstain. When I tried the stain on itself it didn't feel too drying. It is very much so recommended to follow up with the balm on the other side. After sometime the balm will wear off and you will have that feeling and it really isn't too dry of a feeling, but its a "you know you need to tough up your stain with the balm right about now" feeling. You know what I am talking about!

The L'Oreal Carbon Black Felt Tip Eyeliner was HORRIBLE. Tried it once...it was a mess. Gave it the benefit of the doubt a second time and tried it again....H.A.M.

Me no likey.

Lastly, I picked up some Black Chery lashes from my beauty supply store for about two bucks each. I am still learning how to apply them. I am understanding it takes patience and once I pefect this technique I will do a more in depth review on them. But for now I think they are so pretty!

These wedges are comfortable. I figured it was a nice break from wearing four to five inch heels all the time! Very Very cute. I love the designer lines they have at Target! I want to get another pair of DV shoes...either black or gold...

These big bow flats are super cute and super comfy. I don't mind stepping down to my normal height once in a while. I am so short (5'3) that I usually gravitate towards heels, so these are a nice change of pace. These are my first flats and hopefully not the last...

Polish Pal: Ulta Nail Polish Review

I totally dig these two nail polishes my sister got for me from Ulta. The darker color Background is lovely! It looks black from a distance, yet if you really look close you see the green and bluish flecks. The blue is very pretty! I adore them both and I have been wearing them nonstop lately alternating the colors on my finger and piggly wigglies! I think for now I have stopped with the whole finger nail polish craze because I have a whole traincase full and it's heavy and ridiculous and my husband keeps telling me to stop spending money, lol!

A lady can never have too much beauty products in my opinion!

Shoe Love... Just Fab & Rainbow

I joined Shoe Fab which is just like Shoe Dazzle. You take a style personality quiz and a stylist chooses shoes for you. I am part of shoe dazzle, but I usually go with which ever site has the most fab shoes for the month, or skip if I feel! I picked up Veronique from Shoe Fab and I just adore her!

They gave me half off on my first purchase so I hopped on that offer! They are 5 inches glam gals! Love it! They come with a dustbag (I think that is what you call it) for you to store them in for travel and to keep clean and safe!

I also picked up these fabulous taupe 5 inch heels from Rainbow! They matched my wedding dress perfectly! And I love the butterfly detailing on the front!

Rave! Too Faced Natural Beauty Palette Review

Not sure how long this palette has been out but I am in love... This is my first 'Too Faced' product believe it or not. I figured $20 for this palette I can keep in my makeup bag that comes standard with blush, bronzer, lipgloss, and 8 eyeshadows (3 matte and 5 shimmery). I am sucker for natural and neutral eyes shades so I jumped on it with the quickness!

The packaging is very cute and classic looking for a neutral and versatile palette. It is small enough to fit in your makeup bag and makes for less makeup to pack into your makeup bag since you have a lot of options to choose from.

I love ELF products. These are the great buys I picked up from Kmart...

Don't mind the Wet & Wild Polishes. I reviewed those here.

My favorite by far is the Luscious Liquid Lipstick in Baby Lips. It is sheer, perfect for day and not greasy at all with touch of natural color. I will be buying a few more, but Baby Lips...I can already tell I will be buying this one up!

The Clarifying Pressed Powder I chose closest to my complexion is Spiced. The packaging boasts that this powder eliminates shine, treats and prevents breakouts. I will keep this in my purse to touch up throughout the day cuz my t-zone gets oily. I like it...very light-weight. The Lip Stain in Mysterious is pretty okay. A neutral color and doesn't stick on your lips and makes your lips feel dry like other lip stains. It's decent for $1.00.

I am going wacko for the Waterproof Eyeliner Pens! Oh my gosh! They are dark and precise. Gives you the perfect control to wing it out and create the perfect line above the lid. I don't too much wear liner on my water line, but I went back to get another black and they were out! So I got Midnight which is a dark blue. Dark blue is supposed to emphasize and make the whites of your eyes brighter.

Beautiful Weekend Out & About

I had a wonderful weekend! I hope you all did too. Now it is back to the grind with work, school, and such. I have a paper due and I have to get on the ball with it. I actually had a night out without my daughter on Saturdaywhich is very very rare. Normally she goes everywhere with me and when I say everywhere I mean every....where. She is a handful so I have to find an on-call babysitter because I need to get my social life back on track. Geez. But Saturday morning I woke up early and hit up a couple yard sales with my step mom and Jayda as well as the local flea market. I love love love yard sales and flea market. You can always find little knock knacks there! But you go there and you end up spending more than you think because all the little things add up here and there, lol. Most of the stuff I purchased was for Jayda.

Anywho I nabbed the cutest genie bottle for $2! Perfect addition to my bedroom decor!

My stepmother got me this adorable beaded bracelet that I refuse to take off...

I also picked up some black soap. I have been on the hunt for something different to use on my face. I picked it up in its natural form. it looks like a chalky rock. it doesn't smell too bad but what I am surprised at is with the funky texture of it, it still manages to lather up pretty well. I have only used it one time, but I will give it sometime and see how well it does for my face. I get breakouts here and there but I mostly break out during that time of the month so I want to see if the black soap keeps the breakouts at bay around that time. I will surely let you know.

Later that night I dolled myself up and me and my beau went to an awesome Japanese restaurant Wasabi. It was the type of restaurant where they cook up the food in front of you. Very entertaining. By the time they served the veggies and rice I was full and I hadn't even gotten my salmon yet. Best of all, who was dining near us, none other than the rapper Plies. He is short in person. Sorry no pictures. But you know if it were Maxwell dining near me I would have damn near needed CPR. I would have gotten pictures and a kiss to boot. I do not play when it comes to Maxwell....

I had a lazy Sunday. I stayed in bed, watched Tosh.0, a little youtube, and then went to the Goodwill again to resume my thrifting craze going on now. I got an Express blazer for $9.57 and these adorable flower stud earrings for $1.99.

On a miscellaneous note these adorable mod-looking red square studs were purchased at local thrift shop for 99 cents. Love them!

Rave: Wet & Wild Haul/Review

I have been eyeing the Color Icon Palettes for awhile and didn't submit to buying them because I had two makeup palettes already. What the heck do I need with so much eyeshadow when I don't really wear makeup everyday?! That was my logic. But...I gave in and decided to try out the neutral palette first, because if anything I wear more neutral than actual color when I do decide to put my "face" on.

Vanity & Greed

They are exactly what they are hyped up to be. I have tried the nail polishes, the gel liner, lovin' the palettes and the blush I am going to review in a few! They are very pigmented and versatile! I think I am going to try more products from this line definitely!

Now on to the blush. I have been hunting for a coral blush! I was thinking about elf (which I will still try), but I happen to stumble upon this one from the Wet N Wild line. It's called Pearlized Pink. At first look, it is like a pinky-coral color and I love it!

Next is the Wet & Wild Nail polishes. I picked up three colors. I have been on the hunt for a fantastic blue and green. So if you ladies have any recommendations, let me know.

W&W Wild Shine in Black Creme, W&W Megalast in Private Viewing, W&W Wild Shine in Rain Check

I love the black and the nude color. The blue color is pretty sheer so you need about two coats. But I always do two coats when polishing my nails. My favorite has to be the black and the nude. I also have the red one. The Wild Shine polishes were 99 cents while the Megalast polish was $1.99. Great deals! I am always on the prowl for other colors. I love looking fly without spending too much dough.

W&W Moisture Lipstick in 514A

The next goody is a pretty red lipstick. I was going to get the Revlon Color Burst lipstick, but I decided to give this a try. At 99 cents, I am glad I did because I really dig it. It has a bit of a frosty payoff but not too much and it is still a bit matte....just they way I like my make up.

Dinosaur World & LOTD

We decided to check out Dinosaur World in Plant City, FL over the past weekend. This place basically features life-sized replicas of dinosaurs. We had fun walking around and learning about the different types. It was definitely an education experience for my lil' tot as well. She really enjoyed it!

This was my outfit of the day. No my feet were not hurting. Surprisingly, these boots are comfy to walk in all day! The hair poofed up like nobody's business.

Valentine's One Year Blogiversary Giveaway! [CLOSED]

I hope everyone had a wonderful new year! I enjoyed my new year. I didn't go out. I stayed in with my bestie and my daughter and we ordered pizza. We toasted to the new year and watched some Dexter. The perfect night! I wasn't really into the idea of going out anyways. This weekend was pretty productive. We took Jayda to a friend's birthday party. Their daughter turned two and had an Abbey Caddaby (from Sesame Street) themed celebration. They grilled and had bouncy things for the kids and a pinata! We really enjoyed ourselves. We did some shopping and came home to watch the movie Vampires Suck while enjoying some bubbly.That movie was not good in my opinion. It had some funny parts when I could recognize what they were spoofing. Other times, I had no idea.

So I guess I should get down to the nitty gritty and announce what the giveaway prize is. This contest is to celebrate my upcoming one year blogiversary!!! Wow! I actually stuck with my blog this long!!!

LIP SERVICE: Revlon Color Burst Lip Gloss FIRE & PAPAYA

I rate this product: 5 out 5 stars

When I saw the display in Walgreens for Revlon Color Burst Lip Gloss I jumped for it! I love the pigmentation and vibrancy of the lipsticks so I knew the lip glosses would not fall short of it's promise of the same thing. The packaging is sleek and chic. Simple and gorgeous. They have a variety of colors to choose from and the one I automatically knew I was going to get was FIRE.

Fire is a rich and vibrant red. It was beautiful on first swipe, lol. It seems like this color would fit well with a lot different skin tones. You definitely need to stick to the same rules that you would with applying red lipstick. Of course for me to perfect a red lip I use a bit of concealer on my lips and blend very well. I line the lips with a red liner and fill it in with the pencil a bit blotting my lips a few times. I then apply the lip gloss. I use this method the make my lips look more defined and it helps to prevent bleeding with me. Every girl does it her own way ;)

I went back and got papaya a day later after pondering whether I wanted it or the hot pink hue. I didn't dig the hot pink because of the gold flecks in it and I really like matte and defined colors on my face. I truly like Papaya. Papaya does not have any flecks in it and it is a beautiful coral color. It is a great shade for summer, but I don't care what season it is I wear whatever I want!

SHOE RANT: AMI Club Wear Haul

I have to say....I am not happy with AMI Club Wear. I ordered three more pairs of shoes from them. This may be a rant ladies so i will try to keep it as G-rated as possible. But let's just say. I will not order from them EVER again.

I thought I found a decent website where I could order shoes of (possible) quality at an affordable price. Let's just say, you get what you pay for.

When I opened the box, my black knee-high boots had MULCH on them. MULCH ladies...yes...WTF and where did mulch come from??? I brushed it off....literally and moved on to th next damn pair. The next pair was the ones I was excited about...the black and white leopard print heels. I ordered them in MY SIZE...9.

What I got were shoes that said 9...but were so effin tight like they fit a size 8 foot.
Could I return it???

NO...

Why?

FINAL SALE.

Becuase they were on clearance and you cannot return clearance.

What the hell ever. I was highly upset. They are gorgeous and would dress up any LBD. They are in my blog sale if you are interested. They fit a size 8 foot ladies. They are $10 if you like them.

Shop leopard print heels!

The last pair was brown peep toe heels. They were scuffed. At this point after this shipment.... I am over it. NEVER AGAIN. From the last haul, the black round toe pumps stictching came aloose...mind you I wore them once! Why should I have to super glue effin NEW HEELS!?! The black flat boots have a hole in it. I figure if I want quality shoes I will go to a department store or the mall. NOT AMI CLUBWEAR!!!

I am taking a deep breath...I am alright...I'm cool....

I hope everyone had a wonderful christmas and the got everything they wanted. I thoroughly enjoyed my christmas. I spent most of the day with my best friend and then came home to have dinner with family. My bestie gave me some wonderful gifts. I have to say this was the best christmas ever! He made sure he paid attention to what I liked and he really surprised me. I got tipsy too from the rum punch my dad made too!

I got this gorgeous framed Marilyn Monroe drawing! I love timeless beauties like Sophia Loren and Marilyn!

I got this awesome Merlottes T-shirt from 'True Blood.' All I need is the tiny shorts!

And this heavenly and divine smelling perfume...Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf. This is MY perfume...love, love, love it!

I also got an adorable tweed and leather jacket and makeup! I will have to update with pics of those later!

We walked a long the trail, climbed some trees, walked along the boardwalk, and climbed the tower that over looked the river. We spotted some turtles, birds, and a baby alligator. It was just nice to get out and enjoy nature. We get so busy wrapped up with everything else. It's kind of nice to just stop, be in awe and enjoy the surroundings once in awhile...

   I wanna start of by saying I hope everyone has been enjoying the holidays and hope that you are getting your Christmas shopping done without any hassle! I have been on a blogging hiatus ever since my camera cord decided to break. And since I still keep forgetting to get a new cord every time I go to Walmart, I am using the camera on my phone. So I apologize in advance for the picture quality. I will get it together...I will get it together.

   I am still on this weight loss journey of mine. For the month of November I lost 13 pounds! Astonishingly, I gained nothing on Thanksgiving...course I didn't eat much. I am continuing on to reach 20 by the end of this month! I know I can do it! I did get off track for awhile and gave in and had a good breakfast at Bob Evans and an even better lunch at Chick-Fila one afternoon, so that week I saw no progress. But I digress, lol.

   School is going okay. I am staying on track and trying to balance it all...work and overtime...school...hyperactive 4 year old...nagging father...random road trips and outings. I need to refocus and get back to the blogging! I have a few posts lined up for you ladies....working on them within the next couple days and will be belting them out over the next two weeks or so. I have shoe hauls, a beauty haul, beauty reviews, looks of the day, cooking blogs, and even posts on my random road trips and outings. I have a few planned and I can't wait to share it with you!

   I am working on my Christmas shopping. I still have to finish my daughter's shopping and my best friend as well. If you ladies have any suggestions on a good smelling cologne, I need your input!

A Bit of an Update...

I am so sorry beauties for being so MIA! First off I am having issues with my camera so that is part of the reason for my lack of posts for the pasts what?....month or so! Geez....I know I need to get it together! So I promise once I get things straightened out with it I will have some reviews up for you for hair, makeup, and hauls. So do look forward to that!

As far as what I have been up to... I have been working very hard trying to clock in those hours! I am trying to work ten hours every single day, just trying to stack some bread up for the holidays and get some things situated financially. I have been working on a business plan to open up a daycare for children and I am soo soo soo excited about that. It is a process and writing up a business plan takes some research and I want to make sure I have this 'business blueprint' up to my standards. I am still in school for psychology, yet I have found an interest in the business world so I am working on that venture. I also started an online social community called Lockin' It Down for all those beauties who are career and success driven! If you sell anything, have a service, interested in entrepreneurship, have a side hustle or just interested in joining other like-minded individuals, this site is for you!

   I also have been working on losing weight! I went to a sports nutritionist doctor and he gave me a diet to follow and prescribed me an appetite suppressant to take once a day and it has been working wonders! Ever since I started, which was about 3 1/2 weeks ago, the pounds have been coming off. I have been loosing three pounds a week! I started at 170 and I am at 164. So hopefully this week I am down another 3!

   I basically eat a high-protein low carb diet. I stay away from starches and sweets, which I thought would be really difficult, but I am so good now it is ridiculous. I don't even want them anymore. I used to crave carbs and now I don't have a problem going for the meat/fish and the vegetables during meal times! I also drink a lot of water and I eat ever four hours four times a day!
   My goal is to drop twenty pounds, but I will see how I feel at 150 and if I still want I may go down another ten. The one thing that I have learned is to make better food choices, and this is a lifestyle I will stick with even after I stop going to the doctor every week. I understand that you are what you eat. My skin has improved dramatically, I am less fatigued and my body is looking and feeling better overall! I've had issues with my stomach since I had my daughter four years ago and it has slimmed down dramatically over the past few weeks! My clothes are fitting looser and I can not wait to go shopping once I hit my goal! And you ladies will definitely know it when I hit my goal!

      I haven't been working out much, but since I work at a desk all day, I make sure on my breaks I walk around my work building to get a bit of a workout in. I am going to start incorporating sit ups and weights to tone up the flab.
   My hair has been getting healthier overall. I just took the scissors to it today because the ends looked raggedy. I would rather have healthy ends then try to hold on to some length with nasty ends! So I feel much better. I plan on relaxing next month. I don't think I hit APL, but that's okay, like I said health is more important to me then trying to gain length. I am just going to take care of my hair and I will update you on it as it grows, but I will not rush nature.
   My biggest change is that I now wear glasses. And I happen to think I look very sophisticated and more my age than I did without them. I have issues seeing far and at night when I am driving so I can see far more better with them. They are so stylish! I will update with pictures when my camera issue is resolved!

I am just trying to work on a better me going into 2011, on the inside and out. I have had the most trying last six years and I believe next year is going to bring about increase. God brings about increase every seven years and I believe next year is my year to start living my life abundantly. I know I will.

Me and the beau took Jayda~Boo to the Mosi IMAX Theater to see Toy Story 3.
I know...we are a lil late on that movie, but the experience was for Jayda's first time at the movies! I think the dome was a cool way to see the movie. I did not like how they built the seating, I almost fell and my life flashed before my eyes, lol.
Overall, I believe she enjoyed it!

I have learned to be honest with myself with every single aspect of my life.

Day 28: A picture of you last year and now...how have you changed?

   No picture. As far as how I have changed, I think I have changed more along the lines of emotionally and mentally. Not so much physical because I am still working on that. I have been through a lot between last year and now and I think I have grown to be a lot tougher. I have learned to be a lot more patient... especially with parenting and I have been reading a lot more and trying to gain as much knowledge as I can to be a better person academically and even financially.

   Last year, I dealt with a garbage job, shady and ridiculous family members and the ending to two relationships with people I though actually cared about me, but were more for about what they could use me for. So I have learned a lot. I am getting better at detecting bullshit around me as well. I have realized that I live my life, I am responsible for my happiness and I will take accountability for that.

That is the difference between me last year and me now...

Quick Hair Haul

I picked up these goodies from the beauty supply today. I have been dealing with breakage and the beauty supply ran out of Aphogee Shampoo for Damaged Hair, can you believe that. They also did not carry SCurl or Elasta QP products. That was a bummer.So I purchased the Optimum Care Anti-Breakage Therapy Shampoo to help battle my breakage issue. I also got the 2 Minute Reconstructor which does wonders for my hair and Infusium 23 ProVitamin Leave In. I hear good things about Infusium so I am going to give it a go and try it out. Last, but not least, I saw this there and had to pick it up and try it out...100% Natural African Shea Butter. Not what I expected at first glance. But the texture is really soft and seems a lot more concentrated than cocoa butter. So I will be using this as a moisturizer and picking up another one to use for my stretch marks.

Any of you ladies use any of these and do they work well for you?

You are the one person that I look up to. You have rescued me out of the most horrible situations and have watched me make mistakes and are still there regardless. I want you to know that all that you have taught me and still try to instill in me to this day does not fall to the wayside. I hear you...relax.

SOMETHING YOU CRAVE FOR... A LOT.

I usually crave my yogurt bomb. I call it that because it is a spectacular mix of healthy and yummy goodness. Here is my awesome recipe that takes less than 5 minutes to make:

The Ingredients I Use:

Flaxseeds

Dannon Light 'N' Fit Yogurt (Blueberry or Vanilla)

Nestle Tollhouse Semi Sweet Chocolate Chip Morsels

Kretschmer Wheat Germ

Cascadian Farm Organic Granola Cereal

What You Will Need:

Granola
Flaxseed (seeds or ground...your choice)
Wheat Germ
Yogurt (your flavor choice...of course)
Chocolate Chips

Add your yogurt, a pinch of flaxseeds, and a teaspoon of wheat germ.

Next, add your granola and top it off with some chocolate chips.

Viola and enjoy!

As I said in my previous post I went and picked up a couple things pertaining to my health and my healthy hair journey...

Fruit of the Earth Herbal Aloe Vera Juice $5.99

Kretschmer Wheat Germ $4.29

The aloe vera juice is going to have two different uses. I drink 6-8 ounces a day for health reasons and I mix it up also as a moisturizing spritz for my hair. At 4 months post my new growth is out of control. I have been massaging tea tree oil in my scalp as well as rosemary oil to stimulate growth and I have never been able to not control my hair at 4 months before, so I may be making some progress.

Some health benefits of aloe vera juice:

helps to regulate weight and energy levels
aids body in cleansing the digestive system of harmful and and unneeded substances that cause fatigue and weight gain
a good natural remedy for healthy skin
aids in the repair and production of collagen and elastin
keeps mouth and gums healthy
the vitamins and minerals in avj as well as its anti-bacterial and anti-microbial effects promote cell growth and can aid in healing

My moisturizing hair spritz recipe:

45% aloe vera juice

45% water

10% safflower oil

I think many of us who have joined the hair boards and who are already on a hair journey already know the benefits of coconut oil so I don't have to go into that. The Safflower oil is a oil that I think is pretty underrated that has so many benefits for our hair. I don't cook with it, but it is also great and healthy for cooking. The wheat germ is mostly for health reasons and I put it in my yogurt mix, which I will discuss its benefits in another post.

Benefits of Safflower Oil:

used to treat baldness, cholesterol, and essential fatty acid deficiency, and hair loss
compromised of high levels of vitamin E
contains high amounts of oleic acid which is light in texture and penetrates the skin easily (easily absorbed by the hair which helps in retaining moisture)
protects, nourishes, hydrates and firms the hair
extremely rich in essential polyunsaturated fatty acids so it is highly beneficial for dry, color-treated, or permed hair
prevents protein loss that damages hair and eventually leads to hair loss

According to Buzzle.com, when applied to the scalp, it acts as an vasolidator which can dilate the blood vessels, resulting in more nutrients supply to the hair follicles through blood circulation, and a healthy environment for hair regrowth.

I will be using it in my deep conditioning mix as well as for my prepoo mix either by itself or mix with rosemary oil and coconut oil.

UPDATE/ HEALTH

I picked up a few things while I was out and about the past couple days. I am trying to get a little bit more serious about my hair journey, because I have been slacking. I have been stressing out a whole lot and my hormones have been out of whack as of late. i think all of that combined is the reason why now I am combating hair fall out. I have been dealing with breakage for the longest and in conjunction with my hair falling out, it is making me take a step back and look at all the factors that can affect it aside from stress and hormones such as my diet and also the products that I am using.

I decided to research to get a better hold of my diet and figure what it is I can stick with because it has not been up to par at all. I researched the blood type diet. My blood type is O positive. I found information stating that those with this blood type thrive better on a high protein (such as meats and seafood) and a low carbohydrate eating habits.

O positive blood types should:

Avoid dairy products
Breads and pastas of wheat and white content
Drink vegetable juices; incorporate green tea into diet
Also incorporate flaxseed oil/olive oil
Snack on nuts such as walnuts

O positive blood types should also mainly stick with cardio exercise as well. I live down the street from a boxing gym so once I get my finances more on the straight and narrow I will be joining that gym and taking the boxing classes every week. I practice with my best friend now and it is the best workout I have done to date. Gets the aggression out and you never really know the strength and focus you truly have until you do it.

My hypothyroidism is another factor that gets my hair and health down because it causes fatigue and causes hair to be dry and brittle, prone to damage, and the condition also causes your hair to fall out as well. I don;t feel like I am fighting a loosing battle. I just gotta get more aggressive!

Some foods that you are suppose to stay away from when you have this condition are:

cabbage
broccoli
cauliflower
kale
spinach
peanuts
strawberries

These foods supposedly interfere with my hormone imbalance. The crazy thing is that all these food are healthy and I love them! So it is going to be a bit difficult to give up!

What makes you different from everyone else...

Well, this posting is interesting...what makes me different from everyone else. I tend to think that I am more reflective than a lot of the people that I am around. The friends that I hang around pen me as someone who "thinks" too much. I think that is my strength as well as my weakness. On one hand it works in my favor when it comes to talking to people around me about their issues. I pick up on peoples behavior sometimes and I use it to help them in whatever dilemma they have going on. Nine times out of ten what we really wan to say or do comes out in our behavior, yet sometimes we actually refrain from saying it or try our hardest to hide it.

I also think too much I get really picky and can over analyze things to the point that I get pretty critical. I can be my own worst critic sometimes....
